How do I prep for my haircut?

Updated over 3 months ago

To ensure your haircut goes smoothly and your stylist can deliver the best results, here’s how to prepare:

Before Your Appointment:

  • Wash Your Hair: Please shampoo your hair 10–15 minutes before your appointment so it’s clean and damp (not dripping wet) when your stylist arrives. Clean hair allows for better precision during cutting, and damp hair is typically easier to work with for most styles.

  • No Heavy Products: Avoid using styling products (like gels, creams, or oils) after washing, unless your stylist has advised otherwise. These can affect how your hair falls and how it's cut.

Setting Up Your Space:

  • Choose a Well-Lit Area: Find a brightly lit space near an electrical outlet where your stylist will have enough room to work and unpack their tools.

  • Clear the Area: Set up a chair (preferably one with a low back) and make sure there’s enough space around you for the stylist to move freely.

  • Have Cleaning Tools Ready: Please have a broom, dustpan, or vacuum nearby—your stylist will tidy up the hair clippings after your service.

Communicate Your Hair Goals:

  • In the “Style Notes” section of the Glamsquad app, upload a current photo of how you typically style your hair, along with any reference photos for the haircut you’re hoping to achieve.

  • Use the notes to share key info, such as:

    • What you like or don’t like about your current haircut

    • How much time you usually spend styling your hair

    • Whether you prefer to wear your hair up, down, straight, curly, etc.

Health & Safety Notes:

  • Our professionals arrive with everything they need, including sanitized tools and high-quality hair products.

  • If you have any allergies, sensitivities, or product preferences, please let your stylist know in advance so they can make accommodations.
