How do I prep for wig application and wig styling?

Updated over 3 months ago

Whether you're preparing for a special event or just want a flawless look, here’s how to get ready for your Glamsquad wig service:

Wig Application

For a smooth and secure wig application, please follow these prep steps:

Before your appointment:

  • Wash your natural hair the same day as your appointment. Clean hair helps ensure a flat, secure base under your wig.

  • Dry your hair completely. Stylists are not able to work with wet or damp hair for wig services.

  • Detangle your hair beforehand if it’s particularly long or curly, to help speed up the pinning process.

During your appointment:

  • Your stylist will pin your natural hair flat to your scalp using bobby pins.

  • They will then place a wig cap (provided by Glamsquad) over your pinned hair to create a smooth base.

  • Your own wig will be carefully applied and secured using hairpins or clips.

What to bring:

  • Your clean, dry natural hair.

  • Your wig — Glamsquad does not supply wigs.

  • Optional: a picture of the look you're going for to help guide the stylist.

Wig Styling

Once your wig is securely in place, your stylist can style it to suit your desired look.

Styling options include:

  • Sleek straightening

  • Voluminous curls

  • Soft waves

  • Braids or updos (depending on the type of wig and its construction)

Please note:

  • Wig styling is only available for human hair wigs or high-quality heat-resistant synthetic wigs. If you’re unsure if your wig can be styled, check the label or ask the manufacturer.

  • Excessively tangled or damaged wigs may not be eligible for full styling.

Pro Tips:

  • If your wig is brand new, consider removing any packaging creases before the appointment.

  • Bring any products specific to your wig (like detangling spray or heat protectant) if you prefer the stylist to use them.

  • If you have lace-front wigs, your stylist can help apply them, but Glamsquad does not currently offer glue or adhesive application.
