How do I prep for my blowout?

Updated over 3 months ago

For blowouts or braids, we follow the "Wet Hair, In The Chair" guideline. This means your hair should be freshly washed and damp (not soaking wet) by the time your stylist arrives. Ideally, wash your hair 10–15 minutes before your appointment so it's towel-dried and ready for styling.

Here are a few additional tips to help you prep for the best results:

  • Skip heavy products: Avoid using heavy leave-in conditioners, oils, or styling products after washing your hair. These can weigh your hair down and affect the outcome of your blowout.

  • Comb it through: Gently detangle your hair after washing to ensure your stylist can get started right away.

  • Towel-dry thoroughly: Your hair should be damp but not dripping wet. Excess water can prolong the styling time and dilute any products the stylist may use.

  • Have a clean workspace: Choose a well-lit area with a nearby power outlet and a chair for you to sit in comfortably.

  • Timing matters: Make sure you finish washing your hair before your stylist’s scheduled arrival so the appointment can begin promptly.

If you're getting a braid service only, similar preparation applies — damp, clean hair that’s product-free and detangled is best for neat and long-lasting results.
